John Scanlon currently serves as the EVP & Chief Operating Officer for Intersections, Inc., a portfolio of companies offering identity management services such as pre-employment background screening, data breach remediation services, online brand monitoring and online supply chain monitoring. to corporate clients. Intersections is a leading global provider of corporate and consumer identity management solutions, with over $360 million in revenue in 2008. Intersections has successfully authenticated the identities of over 20 million consumers for applications including consumer identity theft protection, pre-employment background screening, identity theft victim assistance services, corporate data breach remediation, and fraud prevention in online and call center applications since our founding in 1996. Intersections markets consumer identity theft protection solutions under our proprietary Identity Guard® brand (www.identityguard.com) and on a private label basis for numerous clients.
Prior to Intersections, Mr. Scanlon served as President and Chief Operating Officer for National Auto Inspection, LLC, a venture capital-backed start up company. Formerly, Mr. Scanlon was a senior executive at Capital One Financial Corporation where he served as general manager of Capital One Savings. In this capacity, Mr. Scanlon had responsibility for strategy, marketing, operations, risk management and technology for one of the largest online banking businesses in the United States. Mr. Scanlon oversaw a 65% increase in the business through the successful development of new products, marketing channels and operational processes. Mr. Scanlon also held a series of executive positions within the company’s Information Technology organization.
Mr. Scanlon began his professional career as a Wall Street analyst covering media, entertainment and telecommunications companies for J.P. Morgan. From 1994-1997, Mr. Scanlon was a management consultant for A.T. Kearney where he led significant process reengineering, cost reduction and strategy assignments in both the financial services and transportation industries. Prior to joining Capital One, Mr. Scanlon served as Vice President of Strategy for Columbia Energy Group, a Fortune 200 diversified energy company.
Mr. Scanlon is a 1989 graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Business Administration with a degree in Marketing (cum laude). He received a Masters of Management degree (with honors) in 1994 from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Mr. Scanlon resides in McLean, VA with his wife and four children. He is an active coach in several community athletic programs for children and serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of the National Capital Area.
