Position Title: Director, Regional Development
Reports to: Vice President, Development and Marketing

Position Concept
This position will manage Junior Achievement of the National Capital Area fundraising activities regionally in Virginia, Maryland, and the District, particularly the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major individual and corporate donors and research and identification of new funding opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly understand Junior Achievement, its mission and policies, culture, values, history, key stakeholders, programs, finances, and strategic plan;
  • Expand Junior Achievement’s corporate, organizational, and individual donor base; develop and build strong relationships with current donors/partners.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with new and existing funders, particularly regional corporate sponsors;
  • Identify and research new funding opportunities to support all Junior Achievement events and programs;
  • Assist in the creation of donor outreach and stewardship materials for Junior Achievement events and programs;
  • Work with the Junior Achievement Development team to enhance existing programs in Special Events, Grants, and Individual Giving and assist in other fundraising and marketing activities as necessary;
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures to conduct ongoing prospect research to build partnerships with local companies in the regions;
  • Coordinate and partner with the District Program Directors in Virginia, Maryland, and the District to create new prospect opportunities for individual and corporate donors/partners.
Education / Experience Required
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of six to eight years of successful experience in corporate and/or individual donor fundraising;
  • Experience developing solid working relationships with high-level donors and/or volunteers and senior staff members;
  • Demonstrated success in prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship;
  • Ability to make decisions, prioritize, manage multiple projects and tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Outstanding verbal, written, editing and research skills;
  • An articulate and detail-oriented team player;
  • A self-starter who is able to develop and implement a new program;
  • Pro-active, confident and organized, with a willingness to work hands-on to develop and execute a variety of fundraising activities.
  • Committed to, enthusiastic about and able to articulate the mission and programs of Junior Achievement, with an appreciation and respect for the culture and traditions of the organization
Education / Experience Desired
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency and experience with donor database programs.
