Ed Grenier
President and CEO
Junior Achievement of the
National Capital Area
At no time in recent history has the need for financial literacy education been more visible and widespread than today. We are reminded of this reality daily, if not hourly, over the past week.

While steps to stabilize the financial markets are being vigorously debated by government officials and others, Junior Achievement’s vision is crystal clear: to ensure that all children – the next generation of workers, consumers and producers – are better equipped to enter adulthood with a fundamental understanding of personal finances.

We will see the impact over time as youth mature into adults, understanding that their dreams can be met by simply spending less than they make, and saving the difference. We will create a generation that knows to read the small print on their mortgages, prepare a family budget, and not take un-educated financial risks. Most importantly, we will instill the confidence in young people to take control of their own destiny by being financially fit for life.

It is with this promise that we begin the school year with a passionate calling for including financial education as a core component of every child’s formal instruction.

We appreciate your support.
