Finance Park:
The bigger picture
Junior Achievement Finance Park will help JA ensure that all young people in Greater Washington have the opportunity to become responsible stewards of their financial resources.
The economic crisis was a reality-check for all Americans, and creating a financially literate society addresses the challenge. Just as students learn 1+1=2 on their way to calculus, so too must they build financial literacy skills in middle and high school as they enter adulthood.
The time is now. Junior Achievement Finance Park is leading the way.

Finance Park:
Unique learning environment
Junior Achievement Finance Park is a nationally-recognized, comprehensive, hands-on financial literacy education program for upper middle and high school students. Each year 14,000 local youth will focus for six weeks on intense classroom instruction and activities, preparing for a real-life, adult personal budgeting simulation at the Finance Park facility.
In this 20,000 square foot "mini-city" comprised of 18 storefronts that align with students' 18 personal budget lines, each student assumes a life situation (e.g., 42, married, 2 kids, $x income) through which they must balance their monthly budget. Making tough, realistic budgeting decisions during the simulation brings to life the classroom academic work. To learn more, visit www.myJA.org/financepark/.

Cutting-edge curriculum
Over six weeks, creative age-appropriate activities and lesson plans enable students to grasp complex concepts such as how financial institutions works, how various taxes impact one's bottom line, and how to create and balance a personal budget.
The simulation curriculum at the Finance Park facility brings the classroom studies to life as students actually save through investments, buy a car and a house, pay their phone and utility bills, and allocate funds for entertainment. To learn more, visit www.myJA.org/financepark/curriculum/.

Finance Park:
Exciting partnership opportunities
Junior Achievement's fund raising campaign is entering Phase II, made possible by Capital One's generous $2.5 million lead gift.
Key to success is ensuring that this "mini-city" feels "real" to students. As such, the storefronts are branded by well-known companies, to date including: Apple Federal Credit Union, Burger King, Dominion Power, Investment Company Institute Education Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, Verizon, and the Washington Nationals.
Other exciting naming opportunities exist within the facility, and BB&T's generous financing enables multi-year payments as a viable option.
To learn about the ten remaining available storefronts, visit www.myJA.org/financepark/opportunities/.
