Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke
Visits Finance Park
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke recently visited Junior Achievement Finance Park, the region's first experiential financial literacy center. Chairman Bernanke and his wife Anna spent the hour touring the park, learning about JA’s personal budgeting curriculum and simulation, and discussing Junior Achievement programs. Youth Entrepreneurs Honored
Wendy Cai and Kristy Choi were named Youth Entrepreneurs of the Year by Junior Achievement and Ernst & Young for co-founding Codi's Hats, a non-profit organization that creates and provides hats to children staying at hospitals and treatment centers. They founded Codi's Hats in loving memory of their friend Codi Alexander, who was just 16 when she was struck by a car while bicycling to work. Finance Park Construction
Nearly Complete
Construction of Junior Achievement Finance Park is coming to a close, and the building will open its doors to students on Tuesday, October 5. Over the next academic year, over 14,000 students will participate in this unique personal budgeting simulation. JA Providing Summer
Programs for DC
With summer school in session, JA is delivering programs to students throughout the District of Columbia. Junior Achievement is partnering with DCPS Career Pathways, Voices of our Sisters, Carrera Trust at Arts and Technology Academy, Kid Power, Tree of Life Community Public Charter School, and the South Washington Collaborative to provide financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs to local youth.
