The JA® Entrepreneurship Summit will combine interactive, hands-on workshops with unstructured team time in which students will work with volunteers from the business world to develop their solutions to a presented problem. The students will be working towards a solution they will pitch at the end of the five days. We are looking for a few types of volunteers:

volunteer mentors 

Volunteers who can commit to be an adult adviser and mentor for a team of 5-7 students. This volunteer commitment is for the full 5 days, and you will act as a resource and mentor for your team.

Time Commitment: 5 days (August 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 8th from 9:00am- 2:30pm and August 9th from 10:00am-8:00pm)

Training: August 1st 10:00am-2:00pm

specialty workshop lead 

As a Specialty Workshop Lead, you will lead a 1.5 hour session with a small group of students on a topic you specialize in. The first half will consist of a lesson developed by JA. The second half of the session will be individual working time in which you can work one on one with individual students attending your session.

Topics Available: Finance, Leadership, Marketing and Communication, Sales or Supply Chain.

Time Commitment: 3-4 Hours on Monday 7th, 8:00AM-11:00AM

Training: Monday August 7th, 8:00AM-9:00AM

Preparation: Read through JA lesson prior to event (1 hour)

Location: JA Finance Park® Fairfax County

volunteer Consultants

During the consultation sessions, volunteers will rotate throughout meeting each of the teams. During their meetings, team will present their progress on developing their business solution to the problem they were tasked with solving. Volunteers will provide feedback and constructive criticism which will be used by the students in formulating their final business plans and pitches. JA will provide a brief training and sample questions for the consultants to ask the students.

Time Commitment: 2 Hours on Friday August 4th, 10am-12:00pm // Lunch provided at 12:00 pm. 

and/or

 2 Hours on Wednesday August 9th, 12:00PM-2:00PM // Lunch provided at 12:00 pm.

junior mentors 

College-aged student volunteers who can commit to serving as a junior mentor (working directly with the team mentor) for a team of 5 students. This volunteer commitment is for the full 5 days, and you will help advise and guide the students. 

Time Commitment: 5 days (August 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 8th from 9:00am- 2:30pm and August 9th from 10:00am-8:00pm)

Training: August 1st 10:00am-2:00pm

Location: JA Finance Park® Fairfax County (Aug 3rd-8th), George Mason University (Aug 9th)

All volunteers are required to go through a training with a JA® staff member.
