Junior Achievement of Greater Washington was founded and incorporated in 1965 as a Commonwealth of Virginia nonprofit corporation, which provides financial education programs free of charge to students in Greater Washington, helping them to gain a fundamental understanding of business, economics, and entrepreneurship. JA's mission is to empower young people to own their economic success. JA is a not-for-profit tax-exempt corporation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and is a publicly supported organization as defined by Sections 170(b) (1) (A) (vi) and 509 (a) of the Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent permissible under law.
