Maryland IN-CLASSROOM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
JA® IN A DAY DELIVERY METHOD
Training + Observation: 2-hours
Prep Time: 60-90 minutes prior to the JA in a Day event
Teaching Time: 4-5 hours. The teacher will be in the classroom at all times. Lunch and other breaks will be taken according to the normal classroom schedule
JA® in a Day events take place over one school day and volunteers teach all 5 lessons of the JA Economics for Success® program to 6th grade students at various middle schools in Montgomery County Public Schools. Volunteers will teach students about career choices, budget, credit and insurance. The volunteers cover all lessons in one visit and can teach in pairs (permitting number of volunteers).
Traditional DELIVERY METHOD
Training + Observation: 2-hours, scheduled at your convenience
Prep Time: 30-60 minutes prior to each visit to the classroom
Teaching Time: 45 minutes, once-a-week, for 5 weeks
Traditional classes take place once a week for 5 weeks. Volunteers teach five 45-minute lessons and there are different time slots available for each school. The following volunteer opportunities are also through JA's partnership with Montgomery County on the 6th grade JA Economics for Success® program.
