Donald A. Brown

Co-Founder, The JBG Companies

Mr. Brown, Former Chairman of JBG, co-founded the company in 1962.  Prior to that he was the founder of the law firm of Brown, Gildenhorn & Jacobs (1956).  Mr. Brown served on the faculties of The Harvard Business School, the Yale School of Management, and the Graduate Business School at the George Washington University.  He was appointed by President Bush to be a Commissioner of the US International Cultural and Trade Center and was an Executive Committee member of the Federal City Council.  Mr. Brown received his B.A. and L.L.B. degrees from George Washington University and his L.L.M. degree from Georgetown School of Law.  Mr. Brown also served as a Legal Officer for four years in the U.S. Navy.  In 1989 Washingtonian Magazine chose Mr. Brown a Washingtonian of the year.

Joseph B. Gildenhorn is a founding partner of The JBG Companies, a diversified real estate development and management company that has developed many of the significant office buildings, residential buildings, and hotels in the greater Washington, D.C. area. He is currently a Trustee and former Chairman of the University of Maryland College Park Foundation Board of Trustees, and has endowed the Gildenhorn Institute for Israel Studies at the University.  He also serves on the boards of the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown University, the Council of American Ambassadors, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Mr. Gildenhorn was former Chairman of the Board of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars from June 2002-September 2013; and now Co-Chairman of the Wilson National Cabinet.   He is a widely respected diplomat and businessman. In 1989, he was appointed by former President George Bush to serve as the United States Ambassador to Switzerland where he served until 1993.  He served as Vice Chairman and Board Member of the DC Sports & Entertainment Commission (1995-2003); and as President of the United Jewish Appeal Federation of Greater Washington (1987-1989).

Alma and Joseph Gildenhorn have received many awards and citations for community service.  Among them was their joint recognition as "Washingtonians of the Year".  Recently, they were inducted into the University of Maryland Hall of Fame, the first couple to receive this prestigious award.

Benjamin R. Jacobs is a Founder of the JBG Companies. He has 55 years of experience in commercial, hospitality, retail and residential real estate. Ben serves on the Brookings Institution Board of Trustees, its Executive Committee and is Co-Chairman of Brookings Foreign Policy Leadership Council. Jacobs is Co-Chairman of the Trustees’ Council for the National Gallery of Art. He also has served as a board member for Arena Stage, American University, Children’s National Medical Center, and the Eisenhower Foundation. He served as a member of the Board and Executive Committee for the Federal City Council; a Council member at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; a moderator and Associate Director of the Executive Seminar Program at the Aspen Institute; and a member of the Executive Committee at the 1990 G7 Economic Summit.
