Get Involved with JA: Parents and Students

You Matter

Financial well-being is what equals the playing field for all kids. Each and every Greater Washington student benefits from Junior Achievement’s experiential learning opportunities. For students, understanding the real-world skills necessary to build financial and job security helps reduce anxiety surrounding life after high school. Not only do JA programs and experiences provide young people with direct and authentic access to business and community mentors, but they also introduce students to like-minded peers from across the region, nation and world.

JA provides parents with the peace-of-mind that comes from knowing their student has the opportunity to learn about financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship in a dedicated, hands-on, and specialized out-of-classroom setting, working with trustworthy, qualified volunteers. Parents can benefit from serving as a JA volunteer and spending time with their child and their peers, as well as making a tangible difference in the community.

As a JA volunteer, you can give your child and their classmates the opportunity to discover how their talent and abilities can create a better life for themselves.

JA’s core programs are designed to engage students at key developmental stages, and create a pathway of immersive experiences that build year over year. Find the JA program that’s right for you or your student.

There are many ways you can financially support Junior Achievement of Greater Washington in our work to provide all students with access to transformational learning experiences. No gift is too big or too small.

This experience definitely made me thankful and realize that being an adult is a lot of responsibility. With my mom being a chaperone, I was able to give her a big hug and made sure I told her thank you. Overall, this experience was definitely one I won’t forget and it gave me a tiny glance into the future. I’ve learned that children really are expensive and that we have the power to control the outcome of our life...

I love Junior Achievement, I wouldn’t be here without JA... Learned how to start a company, run a company, manage a company, presidential skills. I’m all about JA!

I was impressed by how the kids all learned to work together and develop problem solving and presentation skills. I was also most impressed by all the volunteers who shared their expertise and valuable time. I think [my son has] become more confident about working in an unfamiliar environment with people he doesn’t know. I also think he has a better understanding of how businesses work.
