Preventative Measures at JA of Greater Washington

Update Re: COVID-19 From the President and CEO

March 13, 2020 — The safety and well-being of our students, staff and the communities we serve is Junior Achievement of Greater Washington’s top priority.

We continue to monitor the impact of the coronavirus and follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local health agencies as they are refreshed.

As JA programming reaches thousands of people, we are taking proactive, preventative measures to protect against the exposure to the virus within our domain.  Effective yesterday evening, JA implemented the following:

  • All staff are working remotely until further notice.  Associates are focused on our organization's strategic goals, and will be prepared to seamlessly rebound when this period ends.

  • Following school system closings, all activities at our JA Finance Park facilities in Fairfax, Montgomery and Prince George's counties are temporarily suspended.

  • All in-classroom JA programming is temporarily suspended.

  • All student-run companies moved to a virtual model to ensure the continued success of our student startups.

  • The 2020 JA Entrepreneurship Summit will run as scheduled, with a relaxed cancellation and refund policy.

We very much look forward to continuing our work providing area students with the entrepreneurial and critical-thinking skills that we’re witnessing as so vital in these times of uncertainty.

Thank you for your continued support, and best of luck over the coming weeks.

Stay safe.
