On Saturday, March 19, several young entrepreneurs from around the region competed at the JA Company of the Year Competition, the culminating regional event for all JA student companies in the Greater Washington region.
Six teams representing students from the Greater Washington region, and as far as Cyprus, spent five intense days participating in Junior Achievement’s sixth annual JA Entrepreneurship Summit, a virtual “startup boot camp” that challenges high schoolers to design socially conscious businesses.
Two Junior Achievement (JA) of Greater Washington student teams have been selected to compete at the virtual Junior Achievement National Student Leadership Summit (NSLS). The students will compete in the three-day event, June 22-24, against other teen entrepreneurs from across the United States.

The JA of Greater Washington student entrepreneurs who created “Pick-Me-Up” in 2017 have relaunched their company at the University of Virginia (UVA) and gained acceptance into the Batten Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation’s VentureLab Incubator.
On January 20, 2020, the 2019-2020 JA Company Program students spent their day off from school performing acts of service in their communities as part of MLK Day of Service.
