Volunteer Appreciation Week Spotlight: Jean-Jacques 'JJ' Ellong

Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!

April 19-25 is National Volunteer Week, and there is no better time to pause and recognize the selfless contributions of our extraordinary JA Volunteers who inspire and motivate us every day.

Throughout the week, we’ll be featuring JA Volunteers who go above and beyond to connect students with the learning experiences they need for an inspired and successful future.

JA: How have you volunteered with JA and what compelled you to do so?

JJ: I’ve volunteered with JA in multiple capacities. I love to see kids doing well in the financial world and watching their understanding of finance grow.

JA: What is the biggest personal benefit you receive as a JA volunteer?

JJ: Seeing kids articulating clearly, and in a very understandable way, the knowledge acquired last year, yesterday and today.

JA: What is your favorite JA memory?

JJ: When one of the students applied the JA concepts of entrepreneurship to sell a bunch of his class yearbooks within two months.

JA: What do you wish more people knew about JA or what would you tell someone that is thinking about volunteering with JA?

JJ: Very rewarding.

JA: What advice would you give to the next generation?

JJ: The key to success in today’s environment is financial knowledge. Knowing very important key concepts of finance is important for long term success in the world. And it has to start with JA, which gives them the basics but important ones.
